With the fall of Adam and Eve, sin entered the world and shattered
the serenity of Eden.  Chaos, conflict and turmoil, suffering, sorrow
and death ~ these are the consequences of mankind's disobedience
and rebellion against God.  Because of our sinful nature, we often
choose hate instead of love, darkness instead of light, war instead of
peace.  Those who search for peace and light will not find it in this 
dark sinful world, for peace does not abide where there is hatred,
anger and dissention, and light does not emanate from darkness.  We
must look heavenward for the peace that only God can give.  We must
look to the cross for the Light that shines in the darkness.  Jesus said,
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives,
do I give to you."  Because Christ paid for the sins of all mankind,
repentant sinners are forgiven and have the peace of God that passes
all understanding.  "Let not your hearts be troubled, neither be afraid."
In the midst of conflict and turmoil, sorrow and suffering, may you
find comfort and peace in these reassuring words of Jesus Christ,
The God of Light and Prince of Peace.
