3: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4: For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6: Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us...
Romans 12:3-6b
14: For the body is not one member, but many.
15: If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16: And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17: If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18: But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19: And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20: But now are they many members, yet but one body.
1 Corinthians 12:14-20

Appendix
1. Ministry is a great way to give the friends and members of First Baptist Church an opportunity to participate in the larger church life, take ownership of the ministry through service and offer their personal gifts to the overall function and purpose of the church as stated in Article II. Because not all those who attend and support First Baptist Church are necessarily members it is important to make a distinction between a “Ministry Member” and a “Ministry Assistant”.
Ministry Member: A Ministry Member will need to have voting privileges and therefore must be an official member of First Baptist Church. Ministry Members are expected to attend all ministry meetings. All ministry meetings will be presided over by a Chair who is an official member of First Baptist Church. It is the responsibility of each Chair to call and lead monthly meetings, to delegate responsibilities, monitor the progress of their Ministry’s tasks and to present reports at all normally scheduled business meetings or to have submitted that report to the clerk.
Ministry Assistant: A Ministry Assistant is a non-voting unofficial member of First Baptist Church who serves under a Ministry Member to achieve the purpose and responsibilities of that ministry. Ministry Assistants are encouraged to participate in ministry meetings, discussions and decisions.
