I will recite a lovely poem to the King, for my
Tongue is like a pen of a skillful poet."

My Testimony
As a child I went with my mom and dad to my grandparents' church in another town. I
enjoyed going to church, but we didn't go very often. I loved to go to grandmother's house
and play under her cedar tree, and play hopscotch and games with the neighbors' children.
My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Olive Crum, encouraged me to draw, and she would post my
artwork on the board at school. I never realized one day I would be called by God to paint
and share with the world my talent.
My family would go to town to "people watch". The pastor of the First Baptist
Church, Rev. William "Bill" Jones, would meet us on the street each Saturday. He
would tell us of Jesus' love for us. Time passed, and he continued his mission with us.
Then one Saturday he told us of a revival at the church. The Rev. Eddie Rickenbaker was
the visiting minister.
We talked it over and decided to go to the revival. On one night of the revival, the Holy
Spirit spoke to my heart and convicted me of my sin. I knew I needed a savior to save my
soul. That night I went forward, and coming behind me was my whole family. I can remember
the songs I loved so much in that church "Ivory Places" and "To God Be the
Glory."
I have been made right because Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sin. I am unworthy of this great sacrifice. He did not stay dead, but He arose from the grave, and is ruling in my heart today from His throne in heaven. He will live eternally and never fail.
We are all born sinners in need of the Savior. Without Jesus
Christ we will face an eternal punishment in hell. Thanks to God He has made Jesus Christ
the means of forgiveness for sin. It was and is necessary to ask God to forgive sin
because we are guilty of sin daily. He has given us faith by the hearing of His Word
(Bible) and believing in Jesus Christ His Son.
When I was very young every summer my father would take me to the cotton fields. My first
Bible cost $3.50 and was paid for with money earned from picking cotton. My life has been
filled with very difficult things, but God has given me the strength to endure and
continue faithful to the commitment to Him I made in that church as a thirteen year old
girl.
Today I play piano for my small church, and I use every opportunity to witness to others
the Lord allows me. It is all because of the grace and mercy of God that I am now saved
and He will keep me safe in His loving arms.
In my spare time I write poetry, paint, and teach piano when I have students. The greatest
desire of my life is to bring glory to my wonderful God.
