Salvation is God’s Mercy

“God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (Ephesians 2:8 NLT)

Before the world began God chose many for salvation, and planned man’s lives completely. “Long ago, even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ...” (Ephesians 1:4 NLT) “You saw me before I was born. Everyday of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Psalm 139:16 NLT) When He created the world he created man and gave him a choice, and man chose sin, therefore he passed sin down to every generation to everyone. “For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.” (Romans 8:7 NLT) The earth was cursed because of Adam’s sin. Many years passed and man was wicked, but God sent His Son to earth. Man treated Him cruel and finally crucified Him on the cross; however He went willingly to the cross as the sacrifice for man’s sin. God sent His Holy Spirit to convict man of his sin, and man’s responsibility is to repent. “The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us everything he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. This is just one more reason  for us to praise our glorious God.” (Ephesians 1:14 NLT) God also gave man the faith to believe what Jesus Christ God’s Son had done for him.  Without this gift of salvation man is forever lost in death and separation from God. Not until God sends His Holy Spirit does man even realize he is a filthy rotten sinner. Man in sin is blind and dead, and cannot react to God. However when God sends His Holy Spirit to quicken or awaken the soul then the man realizes his awful sinful nature. “Then he explained to them, ‘You have been permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others have not.”(Matthew 13:11 NLT) “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:” (Ephesians 2:1 KJV)

God had planned man’s salvation before the world began. All men are guilty of sin and are worthy of eternal punishment, however God forgives many of their sin when they repent. God is in control of every aspect of our lives even our salvation. God is the creator and sustainer of our lives, and we exist for His pleasure and glory. “Do not forget this, you guilty one. And do not forget the things I have done throughout history. For I am God-I alone! I am God, and there is no one else like me. Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” (Isaiah 46:8-10 NLT) Amen!
