The Reason This is the time of year ~ That everyone seems to care. They try to find a gift, And they do it really swift. They travel near and far ~ Searching in the car. Just to find the perfect one ~ For mom, dad, daughter, or a son. The smiles light up their faces ~ In the glow of the fireplaces. You can see holly berries, And pies with cherries. Everyone decorates the house ~ With the help of their spouse. Little children want to know, "Why Christmas comes so slow?" Excitement fills the air ~ With singing everywhere. Joy to the world and peace on earth ~ Mary the virgin has given birth. They turn their backs on this little child ~ Son of God, meek and mild. Christmas would never be If it were left to the enemy. Red and Green we like to see, But men try to hide the Trinity. Hurry and scurry around the town, But they put the Savior down. It seems the reason for the season ~ They think He has committed treason. ~ However ~ Sing it over again to me, "Joy to the world," so free. Christmas could not be ~ Without Jesus you see?
