Answering Machines

When you make a call to someone,

Your desire is to converse till done.

But today there is a device we get,

When calling folks, we feel a deep reject.

They play us back when they want,

And its difficult to get a don't.

When I can and the machine answers me,

I just hang up and don't talk don't you see?

I feel like and idiot to talk to a box,

But I think they have plenty in stock.

You know I want to just say what's on my mind,

But when the machine answers it ain't worth a dime.

People are just too busy to answer their own phone,

This is a fact that has been to me well known!
