Invitation With Anticipation

I looked for you after last Christmas Day,

But I think you got lost on the way.

I know you have so much to do,

And things have a hold on you.

With big toys you are at play ~

What else could I possibly say?

O' yes, you are a very good man,

And for the truth you will take a stand.

You will wave the flag some too,

And you work hard don't you?

When May came and Mother's Day

I thought you would be on your way.

However it passed and you didn't come ~

I felt rejected and really undone.

I didn't want a gift or things you might bring ~

I didn't want roses or diamond rings.

I wanted you to spend some time with me ~

Just come by the house don't you see?

The time passed and the summer was gone,

And the months had simply just flown.

Now it is nearly Christmas time again ~

I can hardly wait there is so much pain.

Will you take some time and spend with me ~

Around the old fashioned Christmas tree?

Will you please come to see me son ~

Before this whole year is passed and done?

Am I asking too much of you my child ~

To come and sit with me for just a while?

Next year may be too late ~

I don't know if it pays to wait!
