Election

Peter called for the saints to be pure

Make your calling and election sure

Add to faith virtue he said to do

Knowledge is next to be true.

Then temperance should come

If you live in the Son.

After which godliness should appear,

And your life will then be so dear.

Add brotherly kindness next to this

To prove that in Jesus Christ you exist.

The fruit will begin to show,

Then it will flourish and grow.

Paul said know your election

For it was God that made the selection.

The gospel came not in word alone,

But in power and the Holy Spirit shown

In assurance the word did come

The story of God's Son.

Chosen by God little ones

Dry bones out in the sun.

Not one once of hope within,

But in mercy God forgave all that sin.

It was the purpose of God to elect you

Not of works or any of the things you do.

This is God's grace to elect a few

Aren't you glad He has chosen you.

Beloved for the Father's sake

It was His choice your soul to awake.

For the elect's sake He will shorten those days

For His chosen He will do it this way.

Paul endured for the elect's sake

So the Gospel their souls would awake.

You are sinners in the hands of an angry God

You must repent or be beaten by His rod.

Don't neglect such a great salvation

Jesus Christ has a wedding invitation.

Go out and tell them all, "repent today

Jesus Christ is the only way!"
