Crumbs From the Kings Table
Poem based on Matthew 15:22-28
One by one they tumble to the floor,
But the dogs just love this chore.
No one even noticed them fall,
But the dogs fight for them all.
Just a little crumb of bread you see
The dogs were as happy as could be.
There was a little meat from the table
The dogs rushed, as they were able.
The woman crumbled outside the door
Saw the crumbs falling to the floor.
The guards tried to brush her away,
But she asked to see the King today.
They dragged her by the arm to His side,
But she took it all in stride.
She asked the King for the crumbs,
But the dogs had left her none.
"Please sir share the crumbs with me,
Even the dogs eat them don't you see."
The King had come for His own sheep,
But they were all fast asleep.
In a gentle voice He spoke that day
Woman, great is your faith,
You have your desire it's not too late.
In that same hour her daughter was healed
To her a great story was revealed.
The King of all kings is Jesus you see
He is the healer that sets the soul free!
