Can You Handle Life?

Once I thought I had the tiger by the tail ~

But it was the tiger that prevailed.

I thought life was like a piece of apple pie ~

However that turned out to be a lie.

I was so confident that I was right,

But then my neighbors all began to fight.

I felt that I had it made ~

Then I discover the world was on an upgrade.

I thought I had things in sight,

But then someone turned on the Light.

Nothing is quite like I think ~

This causes some people to drink.

It will certainly try me out ~

Of that I have no doubt.

I can't pull the world by a string ~

There just isn't a way to manage the thing.

When I think I am going one way ~

I discover the whole thing has begun to sway.

No matter how well I seem to handle life ~

It can still cause me a lot of strife.

I can butter it on both sides,

But the thing still will not slide.

You would think the world was square ~

Because so many people don't seem to care.

The tiger usually ends up chasing me,

But I am stuck in glue don't you see?

I can't count on this old world down here ~

So I have to know my Master who lives up there!
