The Apple
The apple hanging on the tree
Is as tempting as can be.
Many times you look to see
If one ripe apple has fallen free.
The owner of the tree is eighty-three
So you wonder if he has a memory ~
That last year you climbed the fence to see
If one of his apples was under the tree.
When you got across the fence to see
The old man was angry as could be.
Why would you steal an apple from the tree ~
When the old man was giving them for free?

This poem is to show how foolish it is to try to earn your salvation
when it is a free gift from God to all who believe in His Son Jesus Christ.
