All Praise Is Due

I was dead in the blackness of night,
But God chose to give me His Light.
I would never have found my way
If He had not shown me that day.
He awakened my soul from death,
And gave to my soul His breath.
How could I ever begin to claim His right
When it was Him that drew me from the night.
No deed did I ever do now or back then
That could have paid for my dread sin.
O' soul do not now boast in pride
It was God who opened your eyes wide.
His Spirit told me of my sin,
And came to make me right within.
He gave His Son to die for me
He paid my debt on Calvary.
I do not deserve to be made new
So to God All Praise is due!
