Let Go and Let God

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not
I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live
in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who
loved me, and gave Himself for me."
Galatians 2:20

"Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come
after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and
follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:
and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."
Matthew 16:24-25

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which
are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the
earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ
in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then
shall ye also appear with Him in glory."
Colossians 3:1-4

The above scriptures will certainly change your life as you
give yourself to Christ Jesus, and walk in His ways.

What does “Let Go and Let God” really mean? It’s a giving
up of one’s self, and letting God have complete control of
your life. Laying down all problems you may have (and most
of us have plenty!) at the foot of the cross, and not
picking them back up again, by worrying about them or
trying to do things your own way. We are used to doing
things on our own, but with God we do not have to it
ourselves. All we need to do is trust in God and love Him
and have a genuine relationship with Him. We must let God
be in control of our lives, and we must not look at our
surrounding circumstances. Give it to God and leave it with
Him and forget it.

This takes a dying to one’s self, as I previously stated.
For example..."MY" will, "MY" way of doing things, and "MY"
goals, are not God’s will for our lives. God’s will must be
FIRST and FOREMOST in our lives. We must accept God’s will
for He knows what is better for us. “MY” will must get in
line with God’s will. "MY", "MY", "MY" and "ME", "ME", "ME"
must "GO", "GO", "GO"! And do not take it back from God by
worrying. A person can not do this on their own, and without
God’s help. Through Jesus Christ, your heart will have to
take on a new transformation for all this to happen. This
"transformation" starts with Salvation. It is truly a daily
walk with Jesus that will help. Letting go of your own will
and dying to one’s self-will is the first step in receiving
God’s glorious blessings upon your life.

It may take a while for some of us to learn to "Let Go". It
will not happen over night, unless you receive a miracle
from God. It’s like a baby trying to walk. A baby will take
one small step at a time, until he has figured out that
this walking stuff is cool. You know the old saying..."Rome
wasn’t built in a day." Well, letting go of your own
selfish desires won’t happen in a day either. It’s a
learning experience and a growing experience.

Isn’t it great we have such a loving and patient God? If God
had given up on myself, I just don’t know where I might be
today. (I could take a guess but I’d rather not. He pulled
me out of the ‘garbage dump’, brushed me off, cleaned me up,
gave me a new set of ‘clothes’, stood me up on my feet, and
watched me crawl, stumble and fall. We all (or we should)
learn by doing. But, isn’t it nice to have a loving Father
who will take care of all the struggles we have in life?

I have a plaque at home, that I bought years ago to help
remind me that I should leave everything in God’s hands. It
goes something like this:

As children bring their broken toys
With tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God,
For He was my friend.
But instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone,
I tried to help in ways that were my very own.
At last I snatched them back and cried,
"Dear God, how could you be so slow?"
"My child", He lovingly said,
"You never did let go."

If you would like to ‘let go and let God’ help you, then
please pray with me the following prayer:

praying hands

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, I come to
You today with my "broken toys". Lord, I am ready to hand
them over to You to mend. I am ready to let go of my own
will, and to empty myself of self. I ask you Father God to
fill me with Your Spirit and peace and joy. I realize that
I can do nothing without You Father; without Jesus living
inside of me and guiding me along my way. I want to be a
Christian that You will be proud of, so when I get to Heaven,
I will hear you say, "Well done, my good and faithful
servant." Lord I am going to let go and let You have all of
my cares, and all my problems from this day forth, on a
daily basis, and I thank you and praise you for helping me.
In Jesus’ loving name, AMEN.
