We
live in a world filled
with anxiety, pressures,
turmoil, and distrust;
but, we are not of the
world because we have
been bought with the
price of precious blood -
the blood of Jesus. We
are not to live like the
world nor are we to
participate in worldly
lusts and desires. We
have been enlightened to
a far better way to live
- the truths of God.
Now
God has given to His
children the Holy Spirit
to reveal to us the
things of Christ. He has
given us His Word to live
in - Jesus. "And
the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us, (and
we beheld his glory, the
glory as of the only
begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and
truth" (John 1:14). So how
can we live in Jesus
except that we know Him,
and how can we really
know Him without spending
time with Him? Jesus is
the Word of God who was
made flesh over two
thousand years ago. So if
and when we neglect the
Word, we neglect Jesus.
When
we are in the Bible, we
are in the very presence
of Jesus, taking of Him,
learning from Him, and
knowing Him. Each Bible
verse that we memorize
and hide in our heart
with an attitude of
surrender and obedience
allows our precious
Savior to grow within us.
Just as John the Baptist,
we must know and
understand that self must
decrease and Jesus must
increase. This is the
true way. This is God's
way because God alone
knows what is good and
perfect for us! He alone
knows who He created us
to be! He alone knows
exactly what we need to
make us peaceful, happy,
and secure!
Jesus
is our Teacher/Master and
it is His example that we
are to follow. When He
walked on earth, Jesus
grew in wisdom -
"And Jesus increased
in wisdom and stature,
and in favour with God
and man" (Luke
2:52). In light
of this scripture, we
realize that it is for
our good and growth to
memorize and be obedient
to the Word of God.
We
honor and glorify God as
we hide His Word in our
heart so that we will not
sin against Him. As we
take of Jesus through
memorizing and keeping
His Word, we learn our
heavenly Father's true
character. And the more
we know Him, the more we
love and trust Him to
guide us.
The
Word will carry us
through all circumstances
and trials of life,
through the valleys of
sorrow unto the moutain
top of joy and peace. The
Word gives us hope and
direction. The Word is
Jesus!
Will
you join us in memorizing
God's word and becoming
obedient to what the
Spirit says so that Jesus
may live and grow in you?
