Laundry Set
|

for those of you with no menfolk in your household:

I have a confession to make:
laundry procrastination is my besetting sin.

Did you know that laundry is part of the curse? YEP. Think about it...did Adam and Eve do laundry before they sinned? NO...they wore no clothes! So, at least I know that "this too shall pass" *_*

But meanwhile, I know that I should have a better attitude about doing my family's laundry....
This set is my first step towards that better attitude!!
"In EVERYTHING give thanks"!!!
Caleb's Mommy, Jennifer

Many years ago a Kentucky grandmother gave a new bride the following recipe for washing clothes ...
1. Bilt fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water.
2. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert.
3. Shave one hole cake of lie soap in bilin water.
4. Sort things, make 3 piles. 1 pile white, 1 pile colored,
1 pile work britches and rags.
5. To make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth, then thin down with bilin water.
6. Take white things, rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, and then bile. Rub colored, don't bile, just rinch and starch.
7. Take things out of kettle with broomstick handle, then rinch, and starch.
8. Hang old rags on fence.
9. Spread tea towels on grass.
10. Pore rinch water in flower bed.
11. Scrub porch with hot soapy water.
12. Turn tubs upside down.
13. Go put on clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs. Brew cup of tea, sit and rock a spell and count your blessings.

How to start your day with a positive outlook.
1. Create a new file in your PC.
2. Name it "Housework."
3. Send it to your recently emptied RECYCLE BIN
4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN
5. Your PC will ask you, "Are you sure you want to delete Housework permanently?"
6. Answer calmly, "Yes," and press the mouse button firmly....
7. Feel better?

Helpful Hint...and Safety Issue about
CLOTHES DRYERS
(From an e-mail received 11/1/5)
The heating unit went out on my dryer! The guy that fixes things went in to the dryer pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. We always clean the lint from the filter after every load of clothes. He told us that he wanted to show us something. He took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it. Now, the lint filter is made of a mesh material - I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. WELL...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh!!! It didn't go through it at all!!!
The repairman told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire & potentially burn your house down with it!
He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (& to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out & wash it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that???!!!! Learn something new everyday!
I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share!
Note from Jen: I went to my dryer and tested my screen/filter by running water on it. The water ran thru a
little bit but mostly pooled in the mesh screen. I washed it with hot, soapy water and a scrubber;
and when I rinsed it, the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman
knew what he was talking about!
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK. NOT ONLY COULD IT SAVE SOMEONE'S DRYER, BUT IT COULD SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE.
